How do I connect Odoo to Gemini via MCP?

Connect Google Gemini to your Odoo instance with the Odoo MCP Pro server. Once connected, you can search, read, and update your business data in plain language, straight from your terminal with Gemini CLI. No CSV exports, no switching between tabs.

You need: Node.js 20 or newer, an Odoo login, and a paid Google model account: either a paid Gemini API key from Google AI Studio (with billing or credits set up on the project), or a Google Workspace or Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise license. Since 18 June 2026, the free "Sign in with Google" login no longer works with Gemini CLI, and neither do Google AI Pro and Ultra.

Setup

1. Install Gemini CLI: npm install -g @google/gemini-cli
2. Open (or create) the file ~/.gemini/settings.json and add the Odoo server:

   Important: use 127.0.0.1 in the redirect address, not localhost. That is what lets the login finish.
3. Start the CLI by typing gemini and sign in to your Google model account (paid API key or Workspace).
4. Run /mcp auth odoo. A browser window opens to the Odoo MCP Pro login. Sign in with your Odoo MCP Pro account and approve access.
5. Run /mcp list. You should see odoo listed as connected, with tools such as search_records and execute_method.

Try it out

Ask Gemini: "Odoo MCP server info" or "List my Odoo instances" — you should see your database details in the reply.

Does Gemini stay on "Thinking" and never answer, even to a simple "hello"? That is almost always a billing or quota issue with your Google account, not the Odoo connection. Check your Gemini API credits and billing in Google AI Studio.

What about Antigravity?

Antigravity is Google's newer agent-first platform and the successor to Gemini CLI. We plan to support it, but right now its CLI does not pass your login token to remote MCP servers, so the Odoo connection fails right after you sign in. This is a known issue on Google's side. We will add Antigravity steps as soon as Google ships the fix.

What can you do with Gemini and Odoo?

Once the connection is active, you can ask Gemini questions directly about your Odoo data. For example:

• "Show all unpaid invoices above €5,000 from Q4"
• "Which leads have been open for more than two weeks in the CRM?"
• "Find my 10 newest sales orders"
• "What is the current stock status of item Y?"

Gemini queries your Odoo instance directly via the MCP connection. No technical queries required on your part.

Compatibility

The Odoo MCP Pro connector supports Odoo 14 through 19+. Newer versions (19+) use the JSON/2 API; older versions (14–18) are supported via the XML-RPC protocol. You choose whether to use the hosted version (5-minute setup, no technical knowledge required) or self-host via GitHub for full control over your data.

Security

Authentication is handled via OAuth 2.1, your API key stays server-side and is never visible to end users. Access rights are enforced through the existing Odoo ACLs and record rules — Gemini only sees what the logged-in user is allowed to see.

What is Odoo MCP?

Can I use a free Google account with Gemini CLI and Odoo?

No. Since 18 June 2026, Google no longer allows the free "Sign in with Google" login for Gemini CLI, and Google AI Pro and Ultra are not supported either. You need a paid Gemini API key from Google AI Studio or a Google Workspace or Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise license.

Does Odoo MCP work with Google Antigravity?

Not yet. Antigravity currently does not send your login token to remote MCP servers, which is a known bug on Google's side. Gemini CLI works today; we will support Antigravity as soon as Google fixes it.

Is my Odoo data safe when I connect it to Gemini?

Yes. You sign in via OAuth 2.1, your Odoo API key stays on the server, and Gemini can only see and change what your own Odoo user is allowed to. Your existing Odoo access rights and record rules stay in force.

Which Odoo versions work with Gemini via MCP?

Odoo 14 through 19+. Odoo 19 and newer connect via the JSON/2 API, versions 14 to 18 via XML-RPC. You don't need to configure anything for this yourself.
