How do I connect Odoo to Microsoft Copilot via MCP?

Connect Microsoft Copilot to your Odoo instance with a Copilot Studio agent and the Odoo MCP Pro server. Search, read, and update your Odoo data in plain language, in Copilot and Teams.

Connect Microsoft Copilot to your Odoo instance with the Odoo MCP Pro server. You add Odoo as a tool to an agent in Microsoft Copilot Studio, then publish that agent to Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams, or other channels. Once connected, you can search, read, and update your business data in plain language, no CSV exports, no switching between tabs.

You need: access to Microsoft Copilot Studio with permission to create or edit an agent and add tools, generative orchestration enabled in your environment, and an Odoo login. Your Microsoft 365 admin can confirm whether your licence includes Copilot Studio.

Setup

  1. Go to copilotstudio.microsoft.com and open an existing agent or create a new one.
  2. Open the Tools page and click Add a tool.
  3. Choose New tool → Model Context Protocol.
  4. Server name: Odoo. Add a short description (for example "Search, read, and update data in Odoo"). Server URL: https://mcp.pantalytics.com/mcp
  5. Under Authentication, select OAuth 2.0 and choose Dynamic discovery. Copilot Studio finds the login settings automatically, so you don't need to enter client credentials. Click Create.
  6. Select Create a new connection. A browser window opens to the Odoo MCP Pro login. Sign in and approve access.
  7. Click Add to agent. Copilot Studio discovers the Odoo tools and lists them under the agent's tools.

Try it out

Open the Test pane in Copilot Studio and ask: "Odoo MCP server info" — you should see your database details in the reply.

Publish your agent

An agent in Copilot Studio is only available to your colleagues once you publish and deploy it. Click Publish and choose the channels where you want to use it, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot or Teams. Microsoft explains the options in Publish and deploy your agent.

Stuck? Remove the tool and add it again, or email support@pantalytics.com. You can also use the chat button in the bottom-right corner of the page.

What can you do with Copilot and Odoo?

Once the connection is active, you can ask your Copilot agent questions directly about your Odoo data. For example:

  • "Show all unpaid invoices above €5,000 from Q4"
  • "Which leads have been open for more than two weeks in the CRM?"
  • "Create a new sales order for customer Acme with product X"
  • "What is the current stock status of item Y?"

Copilot queries your Odoo instance directly via the MCP connection. No technical queries required on your part.

Compatibility

The Odoo MCP Pro connector supports Odoo 14 through 19+. Newer versions (19+) use the JSON/2 API; older versions (14–18) are supported via the XML-RPC protocol. You choose whether to use the hosted version (5-minute setup, no technical knowledge required) or self-host via GitHub for full control over your data.

Security

Authentication is handled via OAuth 2.1, your API key stays server-side and is never visible to end users. Copilot Studio stores and refreshes the connection tokens for you. Access rights are enforced through the existing Odoo ACLs and record rules — Copilot only sees what the logged-in user is allowed to see.

Frequently asked questions about Odoo MCP and Copilot

What is Odoo MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external systems. Odoo MCP Pro is a hosted MCP server that gives AI tools like Microsoft Copilot secure access to your Odoo data, so you can search, read, and update records in plain language.

Can I add Odoo directly to the regular Microsoft 365 Copilot chat?

Not directly. You connect Odoo to an agent in Copilot Studio and then publish that agent to Microsoft 365 Copilot or Teams. From there, you and your colleagues can use it like any other Copilot agent.

Which Microsoft licence do I need?

You need access to Copilot Studio with permission to build agents and add tools. Licensing depends on your Microsoft 365 setup, so check with your Microsoft admin. Odoo MCP Pro itself has a free start.

Is my Odoo data safe when I connect it to Copilot?

Yes. You sign in via OAuth 2.1, your Odoo API key stays on the server, and Copilot can only see and change what your own Odoo user is allowed to. Your existing Odoo access rights and record rules stay in force.

Which Odoo versions work with Copilot via MCP?

Odoo 14 through 19+. Odoo 19 and newer connect via the JSON/2 API, versions 14 to 18 via XML-RPC. You don't need to configure anything for this yourself.
