Can you use Claude instead of ChatGPT inside Odoo?

Not by default: Odoo 19 knows OpenAI and Gemini. The free AI Pro module makes Claude a full AI provider in Odoo, down to the chatter and AI fields. And what to do if you cannot install a module.

Can you use Claude instead of ChatGPT inside Odoo?

Not by default. The AI in Odoo 19 works with OpenAI and Google Gemini. With AI Pro, a free open source module, Anthropic Claude becomes a third provider that works everywhere in Odoo.

That last part matters. Claude is then not a separate window next to Odoo, but inside Ask AI, the chatter, AI fields and agents, with tool calling, RAG and web search.

Why would you want Claude in Odoo?

Because you want to pick the model that fits each task. A product description deserves a large model; a short tagline is fine with a fast, cheap one.

With AI Pro you choose per AI field or per agent: Claude Haiku for quick, cheap tasks, Sonnet for everyday work, Opus for heavy analysis. You can keep using OpenAI and Gemini on the fields where they do better.

What does Claude in Odoo cost?

AI Pro itself is free, under LGPL-3. You only pay Anthropic for the tokens you use.

How much that is depends on the model and on how many fields you let it fill automatically. Start with Haiku on the fields that run often, and you will quickly see what it costs per month.

Which Odoo version do you need?

Odoo 19 Enterprise. AI Pro builds on Odoo's AI app, which earlier versions do not have.

On Odoo.sh you add it as a Git submodule, on your own server through your addons path. Then pick your default agent under Settings, AI, and switch Claude on.

What if you are on Odoo Online?

Then you cannot install AI Pro, because Odoo Online does not allow your own modules. You can still let Claude work with your Odoo from the outside, through an MCP server.

That is a different setup: you work in the Claude app and it reads and writes in Odoo, instead of Claude running inside Odoo. How that works is in connect Claude AI to Odoo.
